Tuesday February 14, 2017 (7.00 pm PST): The Berkeley City Council adopted a resolution on Tibet. On behalf of the whole Tibetan community members and friends of Tibet, we would like to thank the Berkeley city Mayor Jesse Arreguin and the councilmembers (District 1 – Linda Maio, District 2 – Cheryl Davila, District 3 – Ben Bartlett, District 5 – Sophie Hahn, District 6 – Susan Wengraf, District 7 – Kriss Worthington and District 8 – Lori Droste) for adopting this resolution on Tibet in urging Chinese governemnt to respect the Tibetan People’s ‘The Right to Self-Determination, safeguard their human rights and their pristine environment, and to resume dialogue with His Holiness The XIV Dalai Lama and the leadership of the Central Tibetan Administration. Additionally, to allow the Tibetan flag to be raised on the city flag pole on Friday, March 10th, 2017 to show solidarity with the Tibetan People and dedicating 2017 as Tibet Action Year’.
