Venerable Lama Konchok Sonam was born and raised in Tibet under the occupation and oppression of the Chinese government. Lama Sonam risked his life by escaping over the Himalaya mountain range to freedom. Before he was successful, he was captured and endured hardships as a political prisoner. Tibetan Buddhism and its meditative practices helped and sustained him through his amazing endeavor. Lama Konchok Sonam now lives in Arlington, MA and is the Spiritual Director of the Drikung Meditation Center, a Tibetan Buddhist non-profit organization.
